Open Democracy, in partnership with the NH Coalition for Voting Rights, is offering Nonpartisan Poll Observer Training.  There will be 4 trainings, you can attend any or all.  

Why be a nonpartisan poll observer?  

• During the 2025 town elections, thanks to observers, over 100 voters were identified as being turned away at the polls due to HB1569. This was critical data for advocacy efforts. We need to continue this work in every city this fall.
• Observers are nonpartisan and help ensure:
  • Every eligible voter can cast a ballot and have their vote counted.
  • Polling locations have functional One4All accessible voting machines.
  • Confidence in New Hampshire’s elections.
  • The impact of new laws on voters is tracked.
  • A calm, welcoming presence for voters
  • Our local election officials are supported.
• Even short shifts help — full-day coverage is ideal.
• Observers receive training, materials, and direct support.
• A boring day for an observer is a great day for democracy!

As an observer, you’ll help ensure:

• Eligible voters are not unfairly turned away.
• Accessible voting machines are available and working.
• Voter ID rules are applied correctly and fairly.

All observers receive:

• A mailed packet with badge/lanyard, voter handouts, observer script & checklist.
• A letter of introduction for moderators/election officials.
• A short training session.
• Direct support from our team throughout the day.

September 16, 2025 – Manchester Primary Election

September 9th, 2025 - Laconia Primary Election (not recruiting)
October 7, 2025 – Franklin Municipal Election, Keene Primary Election (not recruiting)
November 4, 2025 – City Elections in:

• Berlin
• Claremont
• Concord
• Dover
• Keene
• Laconia
• Manchester
• Nashua
• Portsmouth
• Rochester
• Somersworth
