New Hampshire lawmakers will vote on a bill that would make the Granite State the 19th to call for a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United — the disastrous U.S. Supreme Court ruling that opened the floodgates for corporate money to pour into our elections like never before.
The vote will be close. And the lawmakers voting on the bill need to hear where you stand.
Raise your voice to make New Hampshire the next state to publicly oppose Citizens United.
New Hampshire prides itself on being an independent state, yet because of Citizens United, outside spenders were able to pour $89 million into the New Hampshire U.S. Senate race in 2016. And it had a major impact on the election results.
Since Citizens United came down in 2010, lawmakers in 18 states and Washington, D.C., have passed resolutions calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn the ruling and address the out-of-control election spending distorting our democracy.
And New Hampshire has gotten close.
But now is the time to get this resolution across the finish line.
Help garner support to seal this important local victory.
Now, more than ever, we need to stand together to save a runaway democracy — starting at home.
